Customization of your workplace violence prevention plan and training is required by law. This course is designed to allow employers the ability to customize this mandatory training with easy-to-use tools, according to the specifics of your particular workplace violence prevention plan, or plans if you have multiple locations. To effectively use this training course:

  • It is highly recommended you already have your Workplace Violence Prevention Plan created so you can easily complete the customizable portions within the course template. If you don't yet have a completed plan, we have created a step-by-step guide to help you create the plan: Workplace Violence Prevention Toolkit
  • If you have multiple work locations, you need a customized plan for each site, which can be input into additional available templates when customizing this training course.
  • Anytime your plan is updated, you’ll be able to easily update the training template and retrain our employees (if the course seats are still active). Training must be provided anytime a change is made to your plan.

Employers must provide this mandatory training:

  • Upon initial creation and implementation of their workplace violence prevention plan;
  • Annually, thereafter; and
  • Anytime a change is made to the plan.

California law sets strict and complex requirements for the contents of the mandatory workplace violence prevention training including a customization requirement. CalChamber’s expertly designed training course helps employers efficiently and effectively meet those requirements by providing an organized template that addresses:

  • What is workplace violence.
  • Workplace violence prevention plan basics.
  • Workplace violence hazard identification and correction.
  • Workplace violence incident reporting and response.
  • Practical, real-life scenarios to test and reinforce employee understanding.

Please note the training requirement doesn’t apply if:

  • An employer already complies with the Violence Prevention in Health Care regulations.
  • The employer has employees working at a place of employment that is not accessible to the public and where less than 10 employees are working there at any given time.
  • Employees telework from a location of the employee’s choice that is not under the employer’s control.
