California’s general industry workplace violence standards require nearly all California non-health care employers to take proactive steps to prevent and mitigate violence in the workplace. The main requirements include having a written Workplace Violence Prevention Plan, conducting employee training, proper recordkeeping and responding to incidents in the workplace. Each requirement includes numerous components, which makes compliance both difficult and time-consuming, especially when it comes to responding to workplace violence.
