Description
California’s Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) regulates wages and hours of nonexempt employees — requiring all California employers to post at least 1 of the 17 Wage Orders in each workplace for employees to view — specific to the industry or occupation it covers.

Specific Industry
Wage Order 15 regulates wages, hours and working conditions in Household Occupations.
Wage Order 15 covers employees who work for private households in various kinds of occupations. “Household occupations” means all services related to the care of people or maintenance of a private household or its premises by an employee of a private householder. Said occupations shall include the following:
- Butlers
- Chauffeurs, companions and cooks
- Day workers
- Gardeners, graduate nurses and grooms
- House cleaners
- Housekeepers
- Maids
- Practical nurses
- Tutors
- Valets
